Over the years, many of our business relations have asked about the meaning behind the name Zenobia. Below, the founder of Zenobia N.V., Henry Carbière Falls, shares the story behind the name.
“To begin with, I have always been fascinated by history. Many of the situations and challenges we face as human beings today have their origins in the distant past. Understanding history can, in many cases, help us avoid failures and mistakes.
The same lesson applies to business. Learning from the mistakes and misjudgments of other organizations can help us optimize our business processes and services.
Zenobia was a queen who lived in the Mediterranean region more than 1,700 years ago. Her opponents had killed her husband and his heir to the throne, but they allowed Zenobia to live because they considered a woman to pose little threat.
However, in addition to her beauty, Zenobia possessed strong leadership abilities, an entrepreneurial spirit, strategic insight, and, above all, ambition.
After decisively overcoming her opponents, she expanded her territory and brought the economy and development of her kingdom to unprecedented heights.”
When the founder of Zenobia N.V. was preparing to establish the company, several people advised him against it and attempted to discourage him. His love of history and his admiration for Zenobia inspired him to name the company after this remarkable woman.
